The power of a change of pace.
Over the past year I have been spending a fair amount of time on the road and I am always amazed at how a simple change of pace can make a monumental difference in the way that I think and how I view both opportunities and difficulties in my life and business.
I have come to appreciate even more than ever before how a different location, away from the anchors and triggers of my day to day life and business can make such a monumental difference.
So here we are at the beginning of the 4th quarter, and if you are like many of my clients, to accomplish your 2011 goals it is going to take an outstanding 4th quarter to meet or exceed those goals. I have a suggestion, in fact a suggestion with a huge incentive! I am on the plane coming home from a week in Florida, It was a pretty amazing experience, I spoke at a Powerteam International event called Inspiration 2020. It was my first platform presentation in the US. I really enjoyed myself had a great experience and cannot wait to do it again.
We have booked another Personal Best Level One in Chicago and now the wheels must get moving to fill these programs.
In addition I was invited to participate in a high level mastermind called The Winners Circle held in a 38,000 sq ft mansion just outside of Tampa. I had the honor and privilege of working with 10 other amazing and brilliant authors, speakers, entrepreneurs.
As most of you know t have spent the last couple of years travelling with my friend Colin doing similar mastermind groups with elite entrepreneurs.
I truly enjoyed my time in the Mansion and I thought I would share some of my take aways from my 2 days.
1)   The viral coefficient, this I believe is one of the most powerful tools for business growth under the sun. Simply put it is the number of new customers/users that you get from each one of your customers/users. Anything over 1.2 will lead to viral growth so the question is how do you get your customers to refer you enough times that each client refers 1.5 new clients? If you can accomplish the 1 simple task your business and offering will grow VIRAL.
2)   I am very grateful for the Canadian health care system, there was a couple there that is doing a huge fundraiser for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The number of hero’s and victims that are still struggling with health complications and no support to speak of from the government it is frankly astounding to me. I know our system is imperfect but it is leaps and bounds better than our American friends.
3)   I admire the creativity of marketing and promotions that these business leaders have used. Everything from internationally broadcast infomercials, best selling books, at home study programs, multi speaker events, high end coaching, masterminds, direct mail campaigns, national newspaper programs. It is a great reminder that if you have a business marketing, marketing, marketing!!
4)   I got some great examples of platform speaking structure and formats, which I was quite blown away by how people can inspire action in such short periods of time. There are some exceptionally talented people that I look forward to learning and working with many of them.
5)   Perhaps most significant for me is the realization that I am not in the process of scaling Personal Best to the US, I am in the process of instigating a global movement of Conscious Creators, of which the personal best content is only a small part. I will create community online and off line, there will be games, apps and social Media integration. I will spark creation circles that will build our community in excess of 50,000 members in 1 year, I will create a community that will attract the biggest speakers in the world who want access to our community and energy. This community will support each other to their highest good and evolution.
My brain is very full at this moment, but above all I am inspired, motivated and clear about what I intend to create!
I was facilitating a Mastery Evening last night for Inner Circle members in Calgary called The 3 Steps to Financial Freedom. It was a fascinating evening. One of the activities was for participants to write their definition of Financial Freedom.
The most powerful theme in the room was this. Financial Freedom for this group was “the absence of worry or stress” related to money. Now I “get” that desire, but that definition also creates a series of issues that generally makes financial freedom impossible for those that hold that definition. The truth is that worry and stress about money often has little or nothing to do with our income, net worth, recurring income or bank balance. It is more about us, our beliefs about money and how we bring ourselves to our financial world.
A Measurable Definition of Financial Freedom
Financial freedom is when our passive or recurring income is greater than our expenses. It is at that moment that we have the REAL choice when we get up in the morning of “What do I want to do today?”
This definition taken from Robert Kiyosaki author of Rich Dad Poor Dad is not that sexy, it does not address the feelings or emotions of financial freedom, but it does give us a very operational, and measurable definition that is objective and above all attainable for ALL of us.
Of course there are issues to overcome to become financially free, but at its core there are really only 3 fundamental steps they are as follows:
- Educate yourself
- Consciously choose your lifestyle/expenses!
- Become a conscious consumer
3. Consciously scale your freedom!
- This means that you scale your lifestyle AFTER you increase your passive recurring income. Because attaining financial freedom is often easier than maintaining it…a bit like a reaching your goal weight in a weight loss program.
We at Personal Best have deemed March to be Financial Freedom month, and as such we have created a ton of events to support you to claim your financial freedom.

Just in the Las Vegas airport after a whirlwind trip. I was here working on a joint venture with a friend Bill Walsh, the creator of PowerTeam International. I had a great time, thanks Bill for a great event, fun parties and amazing hospitality.
While I was working my dear wife Cory caught up on some much deserved sleep (that poor woman has not slept through the night in 5 months since our youngest Jasxon came home.)

Our trip was fantastic on all counts, we escaped -36 degree weather in Calgary, Cory got more sleep in 3 nights than she got in the previous 10 days and Bill and I are doing some very exciting work together. I am going to be speaking in Orlando at the end of April with Powerteam at their Inspiration 2020 event (I will have some amazing offers to share in a couple of weeks). In addition I and Personal Best will be bringing Bill and his team to Calgary on March 15th where he will be presenting “Vision to Wealth”.
PowerTeam is a fascinating category creator that offers a blend of personal development, business coaching and training PLUS venture funding! I am thrilled and excited to bring this talented diverse team to Calgary. We will be doing much more work together in the future. In the meantime set aside March 15th in your calender and prepare to give your business a quantum leap!
A special thanks to my Mom and Sister for taking such great care of our boys, they were under the weather and I know they can be a handful at the best of times. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts, if not for knowing you two were with them, Cory could never have left them and gotten the break that she needed so much!
