The Samurai Game Coming to Alberta!

Samurai_Art_Blacklight_062510
I just got back from the ATL (The Association of Transformational Leaders) meeting in Los Angeles where I had the honor of playing The Samurai with a group of astounding people, like Jack Canfield (who was assigned as MY back up in my role as 2nd in command LOL) Now to only get that happening in real life!  Also a ton of fun was Yakov Smirnoff who I really enjoyed, but back to the game.
Simply put the Samurai Game ROCKS!!

It is one of the most powerful activities, that mirrors who and how we are as human beings.  I will not tell you the details but I can tell you that in the game I died, the way I died was a perfect awareness (kick in the ass) for what I am working on in my life right this moment.  PRESENCE, being in the present moment, I have come away with clear commitments to strengthening my practices and more consciously aligning my environment (internal and external) to support living MORE in the moment.  I will write more about this in near future!

So if you are ready for a significant step up in your life and world, you really MUST get yourself registered in the program.  This is the first time it has ever been delivered in Alberta.  The weekend is June 28 – 30 We only have about 25 spots of 60 left.

Feel compelled?

The Samurai Game Workshop
The Samurai Game® Workshop is a powerful opportunity to experience the way of the warrior as a path to deeper self-awareness and enlightenment. In Japanese, the word samurai means “to serve.” The samurai lived and died by the code of bushido, “the way of the warrior.” For the true samurai, iron self- discipline, 100% commitment, inner calm in the face of danger, willingness to die rather than be dishonored, and unwavering loyalty to leader and team were a way of life. The Samurai Game® allows you to take on these qualities of the samurai warrior, and experience for yourself the way of the warrior as a path to deeper self-awareness and enlightenment. At the same time, the Samurai Game® is an amazingly accurate mirror that allows you to see exactly how you live your everyday life. As the game unfolds, major life issues will come to the surface for you to confront and deal with. For some people, the main issue is commitment—the willingness to persevere, not give up, in the face of setbacks, difficulties, and even pain. For others, it’s honesty and integrity—the courage to speak the truth, even when speaking the truth means the possibility of rejection or becoming an outcast. For others, what surfaces is the struggle between cowardice—giving in to fear—and courage, the willingness to risk, for what you believe in. And for still others, the issue brought up by the game is trust—trust in yourself, trust in other people, trust in life itself. The list of major life issues that may surface in the game is endless, since the game is simply a mirror. But you can count on being challenged to face up to yourself in a deep and meaningful way.Another challenge in the Samurai Game® for many people is the challenge of (symbolically) facing death. As you confront the possibility of dying in battle, you have an opportunity to contemplate the meaning of your life—and to face up to how brief this lifetime really is. For many participants, this is a chance to re-evaluate their priorities, and to gain a new level of clarity about what really matters.

The Samurai Game® is also an exercise in leadership and teamwork. Throughout the game, you will be presented with opportunities to lead—and opportunities to surrender completely to the leadership of others. The game will test you, and expose for you to see clearly your strengths and weaknesses as a leader and as a member of the team.

Participation in the Samurai Game® demands a high level of personal commitment and willingness to participate. Playing the game does not, however, require a high level of physical fitness or physical contact. Men and women from 18 to 80 years old, from all walks of life, have participated fully and created tremendous value in the Samurai Game®. As with any experiential process, the value you create will depend entirely on your willingness to participate fully and face up to yourself honestly.

The Samurai Game® was created by George Leonard. George was a founding member and former president of Esalen Institute. He held the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt in the Japanese martial art of Aikido and authored twelve books including: Mastery, The Ultimate Athlete, Education & Ecstasy, The Way of Aikido, The Silent Pulse, and (with Michael Murphy) The Life We Are Given. The Samurai Game® is now used globally in classes, seminars and corporate retreats, and has served hundreds of thousands of people.

The Samurai Game® Workshop will be led by Keith Bentz. Keith began his career teaching at the university level, doing undergraduate and graduate work at Stanford University, and teaching philosophy and literature at Stanford and Boston Universities. Keith has worked in the field of transformational education since 1980. From 1991 to 2008, he lived and worked in Asia, leading trainings in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. He has also led trainings for participants in the US, England, Holland, Russia, Mexico, Chile, and Argentina. Keith has personally assisted more than 60,000 men and women to live more effective, committed, and fulfilling lives. He is personally certified by George Leonard to lead the Samurai Game®.

Are You a Coach “Wanna Be” or Coach “Breaking Free”?

This is a question that every coach in training, every coach who is “slowly moving” into the coaching domain and every person calling themselves a coach who is not actually at a sustainable level or is not on track to being sustainable must ask themselves.

There are some harsh truths that must be told about the coaching industry that are not being talked about enough.

1) MOST coaches are starving, median income is 25,000 +/- and average income of 48,000
2) Most coaches are “stuck” in a flawed business model called “Time for Money” and even if you “succeed” you are still stuck with significant demands on your time and significant limits on your income and freedom.
3) Traditional business approaches do NOT work for coaches, think about it, one of the most intimate, transparent and authentic relationships under the sun. Traditional “selling” simply does not fit, anyone with a clue can sense structured scarcity, and it does not lead to trust and authenticity.
4) The gold rush and the coaching industry have some strong similarities more people made money selling shovels and supplies than people made finding gold. In the coaching world more people are making money selling shovels (tools, tactics, certifications, strategies, sales funnels, product launches) than there are coaches making great money actually coaching front line clients.

Not telling the truth about these issues and figuring out how YOU will address them in your coaching and training business will definitely keep you a coach “wanna be.”

So what does it really take to thrive in the coaching industry? What does it take to be a coach “breaking free?”

Well that is the $64,000 question, which if answered properly would be about a $15,000 raise for the average coach ; )

While I have had reasonable long term success in this field, been at it 25 years, the last decade have averaged strong 7 figures, I still do not purport to have the answers to this complex question. That being said there are a few factors that have really supported me and other coaches with as well.

The fundamentals of breaking free.

There are 5 fundamental steps that each coach must go through.

1) Commitment: Get all in or all out, half assed does NOT work in this business
2) Support: personal, and professional including BUSINESS structure/design
3) Develop or buy a REAL business model: It MUST fully integrate all 6 elements.
a. Lead Generation
b. Conversion
c. Delivery
d. Continuity
e. Integrated Product Suite
f. Viral Coefficient
4) Systems: Technology and automated processes at EVERY step and stage of the business model
5) Connect & Collect: Contribute value, build relationships, ask for the sale and count the money!

Lets be clear that entire books have been and will continue to be written about each and every aspect of these 5 stages. It is an unbelievable amount to successfully navigate. The truth is that the vast majority of coaches do not have the context or bandwidth to actually learn integrate and apply ALL of it.

It is overwhelming when you start looking at it. Which is part of why so many coaches struggle with what seems like a never ending learning curve. It is also why so many cope by just settling for the old routine which seems like it ‘SHOULD” work which is, “I don’t want some big practice, I just need a few clients that will replace my old job income” and this framing keeps them from building a business that actually works, and keeps them perpetually hunting for “Just a few more clients” and one more certification that will make my practice complete.

If the post resonated with you and require more support, or perhaps you have found yourself thinking yourself “I wish there was a way for me to just focus on what I love, the coaching, the facilitating, the process of actually being in service to people, without ALL the STUFF” then I have an offer of free support for you.

The following link will take you to a free video training that outlines more details about the 6 elements of a business model and much more.

Getting Your Needs Met

As I was working on the manual for Pillar 7 of The Creator’s Code “I accept and understand my needs and I get them met so I can create from a clean clear space”.

I was again moved by how deep and significant this pillar is…and how we as human beings have the capacity to justify, settle or otherwise diminish our needs.

Now I need to be clear that over the past 25 years I have worked with 10’s of thousands of people on this topic and I feel qualified to say, the VAST majority of people are not even close to having their needs met.

NOTE: If you question that take a trip to the mall and watch the shopping zombies attempt to get their needs met at “The Gap”.

Now at our core each of us is aware of what this means personally in our own life. You know those nagging feelings that something is missing, or that our job is not fulfilling or that our relationships are not meeting all of our needs, love, intimacy, connection, sex…whatever it is. (I know, I know run on sentence, but I like how it flowed)

Anyway back to the point, the great reminder I got was that I could be more compassionate, accepting and open to the “craziness” of the people in my life and in the world.

The truth is they are in a battle to get their needs met (primarily unconscious), and for the most part are NOT SUCCEEDING!

This is why Pillar 7 is so vitally important to assisting people to create what they desire and deserve.

So to support you to lets dissect the 3 prime elements of the pillar 7
“I accept and understand my needs and I get them met so I can create from a clean clear space”

Three Key Elements
1) Acceptance: you have needs, you almost certainly have deficient needs, and the faster you tell the truth about it the easier it will be to create what you desire and deserve in your life.

2) Understand: What the hell are they REALLY? Why do some of my needs not make any freaking sense (think of the need for self sabotage)?? The truth is they do actually make sense, NOT from a conscious thought perspective, but always from a belief system/wiring perspective. Here is a link to a program I did on this topic, that was part of a 12 webinar series, you can access it here for FREE!

3) Now who specifically must I be , what SPECIFICALLY must I do, and what specifically must I have to fulfill those needs. INCLUDING A REAL TANGIBLE ACTION PLAN.

When you put these three things together a small miracle happens, all of the indirect, covert, and ineffective attempts at getting your needs met fall away and you are left with something amazing. You are left with an abundance of energy (it frees up all the old misdirected energy) and the experience of fulfillment.

Enjoy 🙂

Please post your thoughts and experiences below.
